gres art 671 presents MUSEUM DREAMS the first major retrospective in Italy dedicated to the work of Isaac Julien (London, 1960), widely regarded as one of the leading visual artists of our time. Celebrated for his impressionistic, poetic film installations, Julien has played a defining role in expanding the language of movingimage within contemporary art.

The Latin word MANIFESTUS (clear, evident) indeed contains the word manus (hand). To manifest is a way of saying “I AM HERE,” it is the moment when we, together, seize a fleeting trace of reality and present it to the eyes of the public, the piazza, of others.

The performance evokes the suspended atmosphere of places where bodies are summoned into a forced proximity: a waiting room, an antechamber, the backstage of a theater.
